How to Make Your Contact Info Clickable on Your Website

Goes without saying, your contact information is one of the most important details on your website. While this sounds almost clichéd, you will be surprised to learn how many websites miss out on prospective business opportunities by not mentioning the contact information for their visitors.

Either the information is incomplete/inaccurate or it is not displayed prominently enough, thanks to the visual clutter.

Not only it is important to mention accurate/updated contact us information on your website, but to make it extremely easy-to-access for your visitors as well.

In this post, I’m going to share with you some tips and tricks on how to make your contact information visible and accessible to your visitors.

Make It Accessible on All Pages

True, the contact information should be accessible to your visitors on all pages of your website. It should be positioned in such a way they find it without making any effort.

In my personal opinion, the contact information should be placed prominently above the footer on your website.

Here is an example:

Apart from being visible across the website, the contact information should also be clickable. Yes, you heard it right – it should be clickable so your visitors can click on it promptly whether they are browsing your site from their PC or smartphones.

So how do you make your contact information clickable?

Well, for professional developers, it’s quite easy, but for those who have little knowledge in HTML, here are some tips:

Phone Number:

No matter what industry you operate in, odds are high that most of your online visitors browse your site form their smartphones. This is exactly why you need to make your phone number clickable. They should be able to call you up with just one click.

Here’s how you can do it:

<a href=”tel:1-847-555-5555″>1-847-555-5555</a>

or

<a href=”tel:18475555555″>1-847-555-5555</a>

or

<a href=”tel:18475555555″>Click Here To Call Support 1-847-555-5555</a>

Just replace the sample phone number with your actual contact number and anchor text with whatever you want to show.

Email Address:

You can make your email address clickable in three different ways.

FYI, all the above email addresses are made up. You need to replace them with your email address whenever necessary.

The third method will include a subject line for your email sender.

Skype ID:

<a href=”skype:myskypeid?call”>My Skype ID</a>

Just replace the made-up Skype ID with your actual Skype ID and replace the dummy anchor text with anything you think is appropriate for your brand.
